Thai Nguyen University – International School Holds the Solemn 2025 Graduation and Commendation Ceremony

In the morning of 30 November, the International School of Thai Nguyen University solemnly convened the 2025 Graduation and Commendation Ceremony. In attendance were H.E. João Pereira, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to Viet Nam, and Ms. Made Santi Ratnasari, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Viet Nam.

In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung underscored that Thai Nguyen University, established in 1994 under Government Decree No. 31/CP, is one of Viet Nam’s five National and Regional Universities. Since its establishment, the University has been entrusted with the mission of becoming a national center of excellence; offering high-quality, multidisciplinary training; advancing research and technology transfer; and providing effective policy consultation—thereby contributing substantively to the sustainable development of the Midlands and Northern Mountainous Region and of the nation. With more than 2,600 teaching staff members—including more than 200 Professors and Associate Professors and over 1,000 PhD holders—Thai Nguyen University has, to date, trained nearly 400,000 graduates at college, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels for the region and the country.

Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung commended the steady and impressive development of the International School— a public training institution established in 2011, pioneering high-quality foreign-language academic programmes in English, Chinese, and Korean, and striving toward international accreditation standards. As of the 2024–2025 academic year, three out of seven programmes had attained AUN-QA accreditation, accounting for nearly 43%. The International School has also emerged as a leading unit in international student recruitment, with nearly 100 learners from 15 countries. Its faculty and administrative staff have demonstrated unwavering commitment, professionalism, and dedication to students—fostering a multicultural, multilingual, dynamic, and student-centered learning environment at Thai Nguyen University.

The President extended his congratulations to the 54 new graduates—global citizens equipped with solid professional expertise, commendable foreign-language proficiency, and an understanding of international norms. He expressed firm confidence that the knowledge, skills, and experience they have accumulated, together with their Bachelor’s degrees, will constitute a robust foundation for future professional advancement and helpful contributions to their families, organizations, communities, and society.

Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador João Pereira affirmed that the Graduation Ceremony of the International School marks an important milestone in the era of digital transformation and artificial intelligence. He emphasized that the achievements celebrated today reflect the dedication, intellectual effort, scientific curiosity, and steadfast commitment of the lecturers, parents, and students. He further noted that these accomplishments will continue to inspire millions of young people across Viet Nam and the world, including Timorese youth, to pursue academic excellence at Thai Nguyen University.

On behalf of the Government and people of Timor-Leste, Ambassador João Pereira expressed profound appreciation to Thai Nguyen University—particularly the International School, the University of Agriculture and Forestry, and the University of Information and Communication Technology—for welcoming Timorese students and providing them opportunities to acquire knowledge, skills, and access to new avenues of development in Viet Nam. From 2014 to 2025, 80 Timorese students pursued studies at various member institutions of Thai Nguyen University, with more than 60 having graduated and returned to contribute to their national development. He affirmed that Thai Nguyen University has played a meaningful role in fostering the intellectual capacity of Timorese youth as part of Viet Nam’s broader support for Timor-Leste’s development efforts, which also contribute to Timor-Leste’s aspiration to become the eleventh member of ASEAN.

Hoang Thi Mai Huong, a graduate of Class BAFK10, shared:
“Over the past four years, the International School has offered me access to a modern academic environment, foreign-language-based curricula, and numerous international engagement opportunities. Above all, I deeply value the dedication of my lecturers and the strong support provided throughout my studies. Today’s ceremony marks a significant milestone that strengthens my confidence as I embark on my professional path. I will continue to uphold and promote the spirit of international integration instilled in us by the International School.”

Do Thi Ni Na, from Class IBK10, expressed:
“I am profoundly proud to become a graduate of the International School. The specialized English-taught modules, seminars conducted by international lecturers, and group projects have helped me develop critical thinking, essential skills, and professional confidence. These experiences will serve as invaluable assets as I enter the global labor market. I extend my sincere gratitude to my lecturers, peers, and family for their support throughout this meaningful journey.”

At the ceremony, the International School of Thai Nguyen University formally conferred degrees and honored 54 new graduates of the Class of 2025.
