Thai Nguyen University (TNU) was established under Government Decree No. 31/CP on April 4, 1994, through the reorganization and consolidation of universities located in Thai Nguyen City. TNU is one of the five universities in Vietnam that operates under a two-tier university model. It is entrusted with the critical responsibility of serving as a center for human resource training for provinces, universities, colleges, and vocational schools in the region. Concurrently, the University undertakes scientific research and technology transfer, making significant contributions to the economic, political, cultural, and social development of the Northern Midland and Mountainous region of Vietnam. Currently, Thai Nguyen University has over 3,691 officials and employees, including more than 2,454 academic staff. Among them are 162 Professors and Associate Professors, 925 PhD holders, 28 "People's Teachers" and "Excellent Teachers", 2 lecturers who have been awarded the title of "Labor Hero", and 15 "National Emulation Fighters". For the past 30 years, in its role as a university carrying out a national strategic mission and the development tasks for a crucial region in the North, Thai Nguyen University has primarily focused on developing training programs from the undergraduate level and higher. Currently, TNU offers 160 undergraduate programs, 70 master's programs, 20 Specialist Doctor Level I programs, 7 Specialist Doctor Level II programs, 6 residency programs, and 39 doctoral programs across a wide range of scientific fields: natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, agriculture, forestry, economics, business administration, medicine, engineering, and technology, all delivered at our 7 member universities and affiliated faculties. To grow and strengthen its brand, Thai Nguyen University continuously implements and expands international cooperation in training, scientific research, and technology transfer. In particular, TNU is promoting international collaboration in training foreign students and facilitating student exchange programs with other countries. Currently, the University is training nearly 600 students and trainees from various nations around the world.
