Welcome to Thai Nguyen University

Dear friends,

Warmest greetings and welcome to Thai Nguyen University!

Thai Nguyen University (TNU) was established on April 4, 1994, under the Government’s Decree No. 31/CP, through the reorganization and consolidation of universities located in Thai Nguyen City. TNU is one of five national regional universities in Vietnam operating under a two-tier university system.

TNU has been entrusted with an important mission: to serve as a center for training human resources for provinces, universities, colleges, and vocational schools across the region. At the same time, the university is dedicated to scientific research and technology transfer, making significant contributions to the economic, political, cultural, and social development of the Northern Midland and Mountainous Region of Vietnam.

Currently, TNU has a staff of 3,691 members, including 2,454 academic staff. Among them are 162 Professors and Associate Professors, 925 Doctoral degree holders, 28 Meritorious and People’s Teachers, 2 Labor Heroes, and 15 National Emulation Soldiers.

Over the past 30 years, as a national strategic university and a key regional development institution in Northern Vietnam, TNU has focused on expanding and enhancing its higher education programs.

At present, TNU offers:

  • 160 undergraduate programs
  • 70 master’s programs
  • 20 Level-I specialist doctor programs
  • 7 Level-II specialist doctor programs
  • 6 residency doctor programs
  • 39 doctoral programs

These programs cover a wide range of disciplines, including natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, agriculture and forestry, economics, business administration, medicine, engineering, and technology, and are implemented through seven member universities and affiliated schools.

In order to strengthen its reputation and academic standing, Thai Nguyen University has continuously promoted and expanded international cooperation in education, research, and technology transfer. Notably, TNU is actively developing international student programs and student exchange partnerships with universities around the world. At present, the university hosts nearly 600 international students and trainees from various countries.

All of these efforts reflect TNU’s strong commitment to improving the quality of education and research, as well as to enhancing its prestige and global engagement.

Thai Nguyen University warmly welcomes and invites educational institutions, research centers, and local and international partners to collaborate with us. We are committed to providing the best learning opportunities and academic environment for all.
