The Development Strategy of Thai Nguyen University for the period 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2035, was promulgated by the Thai Nguyen University Council in Resolution No. 51/NQ-HDDHTN, dated December 21, 2021. This strategy was subsequently adjusted and supplemented by Resolution No. 95/NQ-HDDHTN, dated December 13, 2023, concerning the Adjustment of the Development Strategy of Thai Nguyen University to 2030, with a vision to 2045. Based on an assessment of achieved results, Thai Nguyen University has set forth its development orientation and goals to 2030, with a vision to 2045, as follows: "To create a fundamental transformation in the quality of education, scientific research, and technology transfer to meet societal demands and international integration, progressing towards a green university model; to concentrate on developing key and high-priority training disciplines that meet regional and international quality accreditation standards; to build and develop shared open educational resources throughout Thai Nguyen University, integrated with an advanced university governance model to realize the vision for 2045 - for Thai Nguyen University to be ranked among the top 500 universities in Asia."

Thai Nguyen University is focused on enhancing the quality of education, striving to ensure that by 2045, the capacity and level of its training programs at all levels are on par with advanced universities in the Southeast Asian region. The structure of the university, centered on research and applied research in a multidisciplinary and multi-field approach, will be perfected: at a minimum, each key field at Thai Nguyen University will meet the standards of the world's top 1,000 universities. The university will strengthen the socialization of higher education by fostering connections between the university and employers, establishing training contracts to supply labor according to employer demands, and expanding international cooperation to improve the quality of its faculty, enhance physical infrastructure, and elevate the position and reputation of Thai Nguyen University regionally and internationally. This is in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW, dated November 4, 2013, of the 11th Central Committee of the Party on the fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training, meeting the requirements of industrialization and modernization within a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration.
