Thai Nguyen University discusses and explores research cooperation with the National Research Council for Economics, Social Sciences, and Humanities (NRC), Korea

Thai Nguyen University exchanges, researches, and cooperates with the National Research Council for Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences (NRC, Korea)

   On the afternoon of November 5, Thai Nguyen University welcomed and held a working session with the delegation from the National Research Council for Economics, Social Sciences, and Humanities (NRC), Korea, led by Dr. Youn Doosup, Director General of the Research Support Office. The delegation included representatives and officials from the Digital Information Office, the Korea Environment Institute, the Korea Information Society Development Institute, and the Research Support Office.

   Representing Thai Nguyen University at the meeting were leaders from the Department of Science, Technology, and International Affairs; along with representatives from the University of Economics and Business Administration, the Digital Center, the Center of Training and International Development, and the Institute of Forestry and Sustainable Development– University of Agriculture and Forestry.

  • An Overview of the meeting

   

       At the meeting, Dr. Mai Anh Khoa, Director of the Department of Science, Technology, and International Affairs, expressed his pleasure and sincere thanks to the NRC delegation for visiting and working with Thai Nguyen University. He noted that Thai Nguyen University is a regional university entrusted with national strategic missions and the development of the Northern midland and mountainous areas.

Operating under a two-tier university model, Thai Nguyen University currently offers more than 350 academic and training programs with a student population of approximately 120,000—ranking among the largest in Vietnam. The university consistently emphasizes the advanced and internationally integrated training, having signed cooperation agreements with numerous domestic and international partners, including Memoranda of Understanding with eight Korean universities. Dr. Mai Anh Khoa highlighted that the university possesses strong human resources in science and technology across diverse and modern research fields, providing favorable conditions for both sides to explore and orient future collaboration.

 Thai Nguyen University expressed its desire to learn from Korea’s experience and receive expert support in the fields of semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), green transition, digital transformation, and Korean language and culture. The university also hopes to collaborate on publishing international research works.

   On behalf of the NRC delegation, Dr. Youn Doosup expressed sincere appreciation for Thai Nguyen University’s thoughtful welcome and extended sympathy for the difficulties and damage the university faced due to Typhoon No. 11. He proposed potential areas of cooperation between the two sides, including environment, green transition, climate change, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence (AI).

    The NRC delegates stated that they would review and consider Thai Nguyen University’s proposals to reach agreements and implement them in practice shortly. As part of their working program, the delegation also visited and conducted field research at the Digital Center of Thai Nguyen University and the Climate Park of the University of Agriculture and Forestry.
