Thai Nguyen University Promotes the Establishment of a Campus in Laos

On the afternoon of August 25, as part of its working visit to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the delegation of Thai Nguyen University (TNU), led by Dr. Nguyen Van Tao, Deputy Secretary of the TNU Party Committee and Deputy Director of TNU, attended the Vietnam–Laos Higher Education Cooperation Seminar at the Embassy of Vietnam in Vientiane.

Attending the seminar were the representatives of the Embassy of Vietnam in Laos, the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports, the Lao–Vietnam Cooperation Committee, as well as representatives of universities and colleges from both countries in Vientiane.

At the seminar, participants exchanged views on the education systems, investment policies, and regulations related to the establishment of campuses of Vietnamese universities in Laos. Discussions also focused on the proposed Laos–Vietnam Friendship University Project.

The seminar was of particular significance to TNU in its ongoing efforts to study, develop an appropriate plan, and gradually realize its goal of establishing a TNU campus in Laos in the coming period. Through direct discussions with Lao education authorities and partners, the delegation gained further information on mechanisms, policies, requirements, and opportunities for cooperation relevant to this initiative.

The establishment of a TNU campus in Laos is expected to create greater opportunities for cooperation in education and training, human resource development, and stronger connections between TNU and educational institutions and partners in Laos. The initiative will also contribute to promoting the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
