On September 7, Thai Nguyen University (TNU) organized a working session and academic exchange with a delegation of experts from Ryukoku University, Japan. The program focused on Task-Based Language Learning (TBLL) and the application of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in English language teaching and learning.

Attending the seminar was Dr. Mai Anh Khoa, Head of the Department of Science, Technology and International Affairs of Thai Nguyen University, along with leaders of the, School of Foreign Languages, International Faculty, as well as English lecturers and students.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Mai Anh Khoa highlighted the changes that AI is bringing to higher education and foreign language teaching. According to Dr. Mai Anh Khoa, the development of AI is providing learners with more ways to learn and practice English, including translation, writing, pronunciation practice, communication practice, and learning support.

Dr. Mai Anh Khoa noted that Task-Based Language Learning (TBLL) continues to retain its core value, but needs to be adapted to keep pace with technological developments. AI can support lecturers in designing exercises and learning activities, creating additional opportunities for language practice, and assisting learners throughout their learning process.
Alongside the application of AI, Dr. Mai Anh Khoa emphasized that learners still need to develop critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration skills, as well as a sense of responsibility. The use of AI should also be accompanied by an awareness of how to use technology appropriately and responsibly. For lecturers, AI does not replace their professional role; rather, it provides additional ways to organize teaching and learning activities and support students.
Dr. Mai Anh Khoa affirmed that innovation, digital transformation, and the application of technology in education are important directions for Thai Nguyen University. In foreign language teaching, adapting to AI, selecting appropriate teaching methods, and making effective use of technology are issues that require close attention in the current educational context.
