On the afternoon of June 8, Thai Nguyen University (TNU) held a working session with a delegation from the Uijeongbu Office of Education, Republic of Korea, led by Mr. Seo Kwean Ho, Superintendent of the Uijeongbu Office of Education. Meeting and working with the delegation was Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien, Vice President of Thai Nguyen University, along with representatives from the Department of Science, Technology and International Affairs and the School of Foreign Languages.

Overview of the working session.
During the meeting, representatives of the Department of Science, Technology and International Affairs provided an overview of Thai Nguyen University, a regional university operating under a two-tier governance model with a multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral structure. TNU serves as a major center for education, scientific research, and technology transfer in the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region as well as across Vietnam.
Thai Nguyen University currently comprises seven member universities and one college, the School of Foreign Languages, the International School, three satellite campuses located in Lao Cai, Ha Giang (Tuyen Quang), and Dien Bien, together with various affiliated units and ten centers supporting education and scientific research.
At present, TNU has nearly 4,000 staff members, including more than 2,500 lecturers and over 1,000 PhD holders. In 2025, the University’s enrollment exceeded 115,000 learners, of whom 37% are ethnic minority students, alongside approximately 1,000 international students from 26 countries and territories. TNU currently offers more than 350 undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs. In parallel with its educational mission, the University actively promotes applied research, technology transfer, and community engagement activities. TNU is striving to become a green university, a digital university, and a regional innovation hub, with the goal of being ranked among the top 500 universities in Asia by 2030.
In her remarks, Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien expressed her pleasure in welcoming the delegation and emphasized TNU’s desire to strengthen cooperation in areas such as the exchange of experts, faculty members, and students, joint research; and the promotion of artificial intelligence (AI) applications and digital transformation in education. She also expressed the University’s expectation that both sides would soon move toward signing a memorandum of understanding to formalize and implement future collaborative initiatives.
Mr. Seo Kwean Ho thanked Thai Nguyen University for its warm hospitality and highly appreciated the cooperation proposals introduced by the University. He affirmed his commitment to actively promoting collaboration between the two sides and working toward the implementation of practical and effective educational cooperation programs.
