Opening of the Training Course on Preventing and Responding to Gender-Based Violence for Ethnic Minority Women in Hop Thanh Commune, Thai Nguyen Province

In the morning of December 20, 2025, at the Hall of Ban Dong’s Hamlet Cultural House, Hop Thanh Commune, Thai Nguyen Province, the Females from Ethnic and Mountainous Areas Research and Development Center – Thai Nguyen University (FEMMA) organized the opening ceremony of a training course aimed at equipping and enhancing knowledge and skills on preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV) for ethnic minority women.

Attending the program were Ms Ban Thi Thu Phuong, Chairwoman of the Hop Thanh Commune Women’s Union, Dr. Nong Hong Hanh, Deputy Director of the Females from Ethnic and Mountainous Areas Research and Development Center, Thai Nguyen University, Dr Nguyen Do Huong Giang, the expert directly delivering the training sessions; along with 30 ethnic minority women, members of the Hop Thanh Commune Women’s Union.

In her opening remarks, a representative of the Organizing Committee emphasized the importance of enhancing awareness, knowledge, and skills for ethnic minority women in preventing and responding to gender-based violence. This effort contributes to protecting women’s legitimate rights and interests, promoting gender equality, and building a safe and healthy living environment within the community.

The training course is organized within the framework of the Project on implementing activities of the American Space at Thai Nguyen University for the 2024–2025 period, and is conducted from December 20 to December 28, 2025. The program focuses on thematic sessions on gender and gender equality, identification of various forms of gender-based violence, prevention and response measures, and guidance for participants in developing local action plans on GBV prevention and response in line with practical conditions in their communities.

Through this program, Thai Nguyen University and the FEMMA Center continue to affirm their role in linking training and research activities with community service, particularly in supporting ethnic minority women and mountainous areas, thereby contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals and gender equality.
