Enhancing Capabilities and Improving the Quality of Foreign Language Training to Meet the Requirements of International Integration

On the afternoon of December 4, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Thai Nguyen University, worked with the School of Foreign Languages, Thai Nguyen University. Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien, Vice President, Directors from the departments of Thai Nguyen University, the Board of Rectors, and leaders of offices of the School of Foreign Languages also attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Dr. Le Hong Thang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the School of Foreign Languages, presented the outcomes of the 2024–2025 academic year. The School currently comprises five academic units and three functional offices, with a total of 186 staff members. Student enrollment has remained stable, with over 1,000 new students admitted in 2025 (102.9% of the assigned target), and a current training scale of 5,000 students. The employment rate one year after graduation has reached 95%.

In 2024, the School had 13 institutional-level research projects approved out of 82 submitted proposals and recorded 95 scientific publications, including three papers indexed in Web of Science and Scopus and 50 papers published in other international journals. International cooperation activities continued to expand with partners such as Dongseo University, Best Korea in Vietnam Co., Ltd., and Catholic Sangji University. The School also inaugurated the K-Chang Space—an area designated for learning, cultural exchange, innovation, and strengthening student engagement with Korean enterprises, thereby creating broader opportunities for internships, employment, and experiential learning. At present, the School hosts 43 international students and four foreign lecturers from Korea and the United States.

For the 2025–2026 academic year, the School of Foreign Languages has identified several key development orientations, including:

Consolidating and enhancing its academic staff to meet the requirements of training high-quality human resources in foreign languages;

Continuing to invest in infrastructure, facilities, and digital learning environments;

Researching and proposing new training programs, particularly interdisciplinary and integrated programs, alongside the application of digital technologies in teaching and learning;

Increasing the scale and quality of scientific research at all levels and supporting key research groups to undertake advanced research tasks;

Expanding collaboration with agencies, institutions, and enterprises to strengthen the linkage between training and labor market demands;

Promoting effective cooperation with international partners in training, research, academic exchange, and the mobility of students and lecturers to enhance training quality and foster international integration.

During the session, the Board of Rectors and leaders of the School of Foreign Languages put forward recommendations concerning the investment in facilities and equipment, policies for staff and lecturers, the application of information technology, and the upgrading of the School’s website.

In his concluding remarks, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung acknowledged and highly valued the achievements of the School of Foreign Languages in the 2024–2025 academic year, particularly in student recruitment and student engagement initiatives. He emphasized the need for the School to further enhance its research potential, promote the strengths of its staff and lecturers, and continue investing in infrastructure, thereby contributing to the overarching goal of building Thai Nguyen University into a Green University – Digital University – Innovation Hub.
