Thai Nguyen University and Cao Bang Provincial People’s Committee Sign the Memorandum of Understanding to Develop a Proposal for Establishing a Branch Campus in Cao Bang

On the afternoon of April 8, in Cao Bang Province, Thai Nguyen University (TNU) and the Cao Bang Provincial People’s Committee held a working session to agree on coordination in developing a proposal for the establishment of a TNU campus in the province, and to discuss key priorities for implementation in the coming period.

On the side of Cao Bang province, leaders of the Cao Bang Provincial People’s Committee, representatives of departments, agencies, localities, and Cao Bang College attended the event. On the side of TNU were members of the University’s Board of President and representatives of affiliated units.

At the session, the President of Thai Nguyen University emphasized the rationale and necessity of establishing a university campus at the local level, contributing to expanded access to higher education, the development of human resources aligned with practical needs, and the promotion of sustainable socio-economic development, particularly in mountainous and border areas. With a scale of over 115,000 learners and more than 350 academic programs, and with a strategic orientation toward becoming a green university, a digital university, and a regional innovation hub, TNU affirmed its readiness to support Cao Bang Province in human resource training, technology transfer, and digital transformation.

Participants discussed and clarified key components of the proposal, including the legal basis, proposed location, organizational and operational model, development orientation, resource requirements, and implementation roadmap.

In his directive remarks, the Chairman of the Cao Bang Provincial People’s Committee highlighted that the establishment of a TNU campus in Cao Bang holds strategic significance in improving the quality of human resources and creating momentum for the province’s socio-economic development, especially in remote and border areas. The campus is expected to become a center for training, research, technology transfer, and international cooperation, while strengthening linkages with domestic and international partners.

At the event, the two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly develop the proposal for establishing the TNU campus in Cao Bang province. The campus is expected to be developed on the basis of Cao Bang College, following an applied university model aligned with local development needs, enterprises, and international cooperation. Both sides will coordinate to prepare financial resources, facilities, and human resources, and to develop a detailed implementation roadmap to ensure feasibility and effectiveness.
