Thai Nguyen University Announces the Establishment of Two Centers in Cao Bang and Launches Cooperation Program with Cao Bang Province

On September 10, at the Cao Bang Provincial Convention Center, Thai Nguyen University (TNU), in coordination with the Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee, held a ceremony to announce the establishment of TNU’s centers in Cao Bang and launch a cooperation program between TNU and Cao Bang Province.

Attending the ceremony was by leaders of the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; representatives of provincial departments, agencies and local authorities; businesses; and organizations working in education, training and healthcare. Representing TNU were Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung, Secretary of the TNU Party Committee and President of TNU, Vice Presidents of TNU, leaders of TNU’s functional departments, member universities and colleges, and affiliated units.

At the ceremony, TNU announced Decision No. 5555/QD-DHTN on the establishment of the TNU Center for Training, Science Technology and Innovation in Cao Bang Province. Dr. Nguyen Van Tao, Vice President of TNU, was appointed concurrently as Director of the Center, while Dr. Nong Hong Hanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and International Affairs, was appointed concurrently as Deputy Director of the Center.

Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy also announced Decision No. 1988/QD-DHYD on the establishment of the Center for Medical Skills Training and Community Healthcare in Cao Bang. Dr. Nguyen Dac Trung, Vice Rector of Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy, was appointed concurrently as Director of the Center.

The establishment of the two centers expands TNU’s presence and activities in Cao Bang, creating favorable conditions for the implementation of training, professional development, scientific research, technology transfer, innovation and community healthcare programs, thereby contributing to human resource development and local socio-economic development.

In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung emphasized that after 32 years of establishment and development, TNU has become a multidisciplinary and multi-field university with nearly 350 training programs. During the 2020–2025 period, nearly 45,000 students graduated from TNU, with approximately 80% returning to work in the Northern Midlands and Mountainous region.

The President of TNU affirmed that the establishment of the two centers in Cao Bang is an important step in expanding access to higher education, science and technology, and innovation in remote and disadvantaged areas, ethnic minority communities and border areas. TNU will continue to coordinate with Cao Bang Province to complete procedures to put the two centers into operation, finalize the Project on the Establishment of a TNU Campus in Cao Bang, and implement training, scientific research and technology transfer programs in the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman Le Hai Hoa highly appreciated TNU’s strong commitment to expanding training and research activities in Cao Bang. He stressed that developing high-quality human resources is an urgent requirement for the province’s development. Cao Bang Province is committed to working closely with TNU in human resource training, research, science and technology transfer, and innovation, while gradually realizing the goal of establishing a TNU Campus in Cao Bang.

As part of the program, the TNU Center for Training, Science, Technology and Innovation in Cao Bang signed memoranda of understanding with four businesses. TNU’s member universities and affiliated units also exchanged cooperation agreements with provincial departments, agencies and local authorities in Cao Bang.

On this occasion, Thai Nguyen Automation Co., Ltd. donated 15 drying equipment systems to high schools in Cao Bang Province, contributing to educational support and improving learning conditions for local students.
