Announcement of the Decision on the Establishment of Thai Nguyen University Campus in Dien Bien Province

On the morning of February 6, at the Dien Bien Provincial Cultural and Conference Center, Thai Nguyen University (TNU), in coordination with the People’s Committee of Dien Bien Province, solemnly held the Ceremony to Announce the Decision on the Establishment of the Thai Nguyen University Campus in Dien Bien Province.

At the ceremony were leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, the People’s Council, and the People’s Committee of Dien Bien Province, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training, leaders of Thai Nguyen University, and representatives of provincial departments, agencies, educational institutions, along with a large number of officials, lecturers, and students.

Representing the Ministry of Education and Training was Prof. Nguyen Tien Thao, Director General of the Department of Higher Education. Representing Thai Nguyen University were Dr. Nguyen Van Tao, Secretary of the Party Committee of TNU, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung, President of TNU, together with leaders of member universities and affiliated units.

At the ceremony, under the authorization of the Minister of Education and Training, Prof. Nguyen Tien Thao presented Decision No. 3333/QD-BGDDT dated December 1, 2025, on the establishment of the Thai Nguyen University Campus in Dien Bien Province, based on the Dien Bien Teacher Training College and the Dien Bien Medical College.

Leaders of Thai Nguyen University presented the Decision appointing Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thanh Ha as Director of the Thai Nguyen University- Campus in Dien Bien Province, along with Decisions appointing the Deputy Directors of the Campus.

In his remarks, Prof. Nguyen Tien Thao emphasized that the establishment of the Thai Nguyen University- Campus in Dien Bien marks a significant milestone, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources on site and expanding access to higher education for learners in the Northwest region and neighboring areas, particularly students from ethnic minority communities.

As a regional university, Thai Nguyen University continues to reaffirm its mission of developing higher education in close connection with socio-economic development needs, strengthening international cooperation, and expanding its network of branches in mountainous and border areas.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Van Luong affirmed that the establishment of the Thai Nguyen University Campus in Dien Bien Province is of great significance, opening up new development space for education and training, meeting the demand for human resources of the province and the region; at the same time, he committed that the province would accompany and create favorable conditions for the Campus to soon stabilize and develop.

Dien Bien Province proposed that Thai Nguyen University focus on building the organizational structure, attracting high-quality lecturers, and developing training programs in line with provincial planning, closely linking training with science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

On this occasion, Thai Nguyen University awarded scholarships to 20 outstanding students of the Dien Bien Teacher Training College and the Dien Bien Medical College.
