On the morning of 25 July, Thai Nguyen University (TNU) welcomed a delegation from the Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee, led by Ms. Ha Nhat Le, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, for a working session to discuss the implementation of the proposal to establish a Thai Nguyen University Campus in Cao Bang Province.

The delegation included representatives from the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Finance, the Office of the Provincial People's Committee, and other relevant provincial agencies. Representing TNU were Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung, Secretary of the TNU Party Committee and President of Thai Nguyen University; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Vice President of TNU and Director of the TNU Dien Bien Campus; Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien, Vice President of TNU and Director of the TNU Lao Cai Campus; together with representatives from the University Office and functional departments.

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung emphasized that the establishment of a TNU Campus in Cao Bang Province is of strategic importance, contributing to the expansion of the University's development space while supporting the development of the higher education network in Vietnam's Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region. Drawing on TNU's experience in developing campuses in Ha Giang, Lao Cai, and most recently Dien Bien, he affirmed that the University would work closely with Cao Bang Province to finalize the proposal and ensure adequate preparation in terms of organizational structure, human resources, facilities, academic programmes, and student admissions in accordance with current regulations.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the progress of the proposal, the implementation roadmap, and the necessary conditions for establishing and operating the campus. Representatives of the Cao Bang Department of Education and Training reported that the proposal is based on the reorganization of Cao Bang College of Education. The Department also outlined the roadmap for completing the required documentation for submission to the Ministry of Education and Training and other competent authorities for approval, with the goal of bringing the campus into operation as soon as possible.

According to the proposal, the new campus will be located at No. 28, Alley 61, De Tham 1 Residential Area, Thuc Phan Ward, Cao Bang Province, making use of the existing facilities of Cao Bang College of Education. The campus covers a total area of 42,280 square metres, providing sufficient infrastructure for academic activities and future expansion.

Addressing the meeting, Ms. Ha Nhat Le expressed her appreciation for Thai Nguyen University's proactive and constructive cooperation throughout the proposal development process. She called on both sides to continue working closely together to finalize the proposal, gather feedback from relevant agencies, and coordinate implementation measures to ensure timely submission to the competent authorities for approval of the establishment of the TNU Campus in Cao Bang Province.

Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thanh Ha shared TNU's practical experience in establishing the University's campus in Dien Bien Province, highlighting key lessons and recommendations that could support the successful implementation of the Cao Bang initiative.

Vice Chairwoman Ha Nhat Le expressed confidence that the establishment of the campus would expand access to higher education for local residents, contribute to the development of a highly qualified workforce, and meet the socio-economic development needs of Cao Bang Province and the Northeast region.

Concluding the meeting, leaders of the Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee and Thai Nguyen University agreed to continue close coordination in implementing the agreed tasks, clearly assigning responsibilities to relevant agencies and units to accelerate the completion of the proposal and the required conditions for the establishment of the campus. The early operation of the TNU Campus in Cao Bang Province is expected to enhance the quality of higher education, strengthen human resource development, and create new momentum for the socio-economic development of Cao Bang Province and the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region.
