On the afternoon of August 12, Thai Nguyen University (TNU)'s Digital Center held a ceremony to receive smart healthcare equipment for the Vietnam–Korea Information Access Center (IAC).

Attending at this event was Ms. Hyejeong Lim, Director of the Global ICT Cooperation Division of the National Information Society Agency of Korea (NIA), together with representatives from NIA and Korean companies, including HealthMax, Selvas Healthcare and Datamaker.

Representing TNU were Dr. Nguyen Van Tao, Vice President of TNU, representatives of the Office and functional divisions, the Digital Center, member universities, and affiliated units.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Nguyen Van Tao noted that the Vietnam–Korea Information Access Center (IAC) is a bilateral cooperation initiative between the Governments of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea, established in 2012. The center aims to enhance advanced information technology skills among lecturers and students both within and beyond TNU, while also providing opportunities for cultural exchange and the promotion of the traditional cultures of the two countries.

After more than a decade of development, under the authorization of TNU, the Digital Center has managed, operated and developed the IAC, implementing a range of activities, particularly training courses on “Advanced Information Technology Skills” and “STEM Research and Applications in Training Activities.” Beneficiaries have come from diverse backgrounds, including people with disabilities and those facing difficulties or limited access to information technology.

The IAC project has also made positive contributions to TNU's educational activities, particularly through its involvement in developing shared technology platforms and digital data systems across the university.

At the ceremony, the Digital Center received the “Upgrading the Information Access Center” project, approved under Decision No. 163/QD-BGDDT dated January 27, 2026, issued by the Minister of Education and Training. The project aims to strengthen digital transformation and information technology capabilities and skills among TNU lecturers and students as well as local residents in Thai Nguyen Province through training courses on VR360 and 3D technologies, Scratch and Python programming, robotics and its applications, among others.

A key highlight of the project is the handover of a self-service health check kiosk featuring smart medical equipment, donated by NIA and Korean companies. The system applies modern technology to health monitoring and care, contributing to improved quality of life and encouraging individuals to develop habits of regularly monitoring and managing their own health.

TNU has assigned the Digital Center to continue managing, operating and developing the IAC in line with the objectives of the sponsoring organizations and to support the university's current training and research activities. The initiative is expected to contribute to the implementation of the TNU Development Strategy for 2026–2035, with a vision to 2045.

As part of the working visit, NIA also organized an AI data annotation training program for Information Technology students from the University of Information and Communication Technology – TNU from August 11–12, 2026, at the Digital Center.

The program provides a foundation for expanding international cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea, particularly in science and technology, digital transformation and big data.

Representatives of NIA stated that the agency will continue working closely with its Vietnamese partners to strengthen cooperation in digital technology and artificial intelligence through the network of Information Access Centers (IACs).
