In his opening speech, Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien emphasized that the tournament was organized to celebrate several significant milestones: the successful election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of Thai Nguyen University (April 4, 1994 – April 4, 2026), and the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2026).

The tournament serves as a vivid demonstration of TNU students’ commitment to the movement “Physical fitting following the great example of President Ho Chi Minh.” With the participation of players from TNU’s member universities and one guest unit—Thai Nguyen College—the event acts as a bridge fostering connections, promoting health improvement, physical development, and the cultivation of a civilized and cultured lifestyle within the academic environment.

A notable highlight of this year’s tournament is the inclusion of Pickleball, a dynamic and new sport. Its introduction as an official competition category alongside badminton clearly reflects the image of TNU students as proactive, creative, and ready for international integration.

The Organizing Committee presented commemorative flags to representatives of student associations and referees.

The tournament includes nearly 200 badminton and pickleball players, who are exemplary representatives of the “Healthy Youth” movement. Competitions are held in two sports—badminton and pickleball—with men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles events. The tournament takes place over two days, from April 11 to 12, 2026.

This event continues to promote physical training in line with President Ho Chi Minh’s example, encouraging students to actively engage in sports, enhance their health, and achieve comprehensive development. It also provides an opportunity to strengthen exchanges and share experiences among administrators, lecturers, coaches, and students, thereby contributing to the development of a healthy and vibrant cultural environment within the university.
