Thai Nguyen University Signs Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vientiane–Hanoi Friendship Technical and Vocational College (Lao PDR)

 

On the morning of June 23, Associate Professor Hoang Van Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Thai Nguyen University and President of Thai Nguyen University (TNU), chaired a meeting for a delegation from Vientiane–Hanoi Friendship Technical and Vocational College, Lao PDR, led by Mr. Khamdy Boutthakhanh, Principal of the College.

Attendees of Thai Nguyen University were Associate Professor Nguyen Thanh Ha, Vice President of TNU, Chairman of the TNU Trade Union, and Director of the TNU Campus in Dien Bien Province; representatives from the Department of Science, Technology and International Affairs, the Department of Training and Learner Management; as well as leaders and international relations officers from TNU’s member universities and colleges.

In his remarks, Associate Professor Hoang Van Hung expressed his pleasure in welcoming the delegation to Thai Nguyen University. He emphasized that over the years, TNU has maintained close cooperative relationships with numerous educational institutions in the Lao People's Democratic Republic, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos and promoting the development of high-quality human resources for the region.

Introducing the University, Associate Professor Hoang Van Hung noted that TNU is currently one of the five higher education institutions in Vietnam operating under the two-tier university model. The University serves more than 115,000 learners and employs over 3,800 faculty members and staff. TNU has 206 professors and associate professors and more than 1,000 doctoral degree holders. It offers multidisciplinary and multi-level training programs ranging from college and undergraduate education to postgraduate studies. TNU’s organizational system includes seven member universities, one college, the School of Foreign Languages, the International School, three regional campuses, one Institute of Excellence in Training and Research, and twelve affiliated centers.

During the meeting, Associate Professor. Hoang Van Hung proposed three key areas of cooperation between the two institutions: educational collaboration at the college, undergraduate, postgraduate, and short-term training levels; cooperation in scientific research and technology transfer; and the enhancement of annual exchanges of delegations, lecturers, and students.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Khamdy Boutthakhanh, Rector of Vientiane–Hanoi Friendship Technical and Vocational College, expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm reception extended by TNU and affirmed the College’s desire to strengthen cooperation with TNU in education, scientific research, and human resource development. In particular, the College is interested in articulation programs from college to university level and Vietnamese language training for Lao lecturers and students, contributing to international integration and the socio-economic development of Laos in the new era.

On this occasion, leaders of the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), agreeing to implement a range of important cooperative activities, including: sharing management experience; providing professional development and capacity-building programs for teachers and administrators; vocational skills training and assessment for teachers; undergraduate and master's degree training; articulation programs from college to university level; technical support for training programs; Vietnamese language training for Lao teachers and students; scientific research collaboration; and technology transfer.

The signing ceremony marks an important milestone, opening up opportunities for comprehensive cooperation between the two educational institutions. It will contribute to strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and Laos while promoting the development of high-quality human resources to serve the development of both countries.
