Thai Nguyen University is Building an Elite Intellectual Workforce in the Digital Era

 

Developing an intellectual workforce, particularly highly qualified academic staff at Thai Nguyen University, has been identified as a central mission and a decisive factor in enhancing the quality of education, scientific research, innovation, and digital transformation. This effort contributes to strengthening the University’s role as a leading center for training high-quality human resources in the Northern Midlands and Mountainous region of Viet Nam.

In response to the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the rapid advancement of digital transformation, the development of an elite intellectual workforce is not only essential for the University’s internal development but also plays a significant role in supplying highly skilled human resources for the Northern Midlands and Mountainous region as well as the country as a whole.

A consistent strategic orientation of Thai Nguyen University is to regard lecturers holding doctoral degrees, professors, and associate professors as the core force in scientific research, technology transfer, and innovation. This serves as the foundation for improving productivity, educational quality, competitiveness, and the University’s standing within Viet Nam’s higher education system. The University also places strong emphasis on building a modern academic environment that encourages creativity, interdisciplinary research, and international cooperation, thereby creating favorable conditions for intellectuals to maximize their professional expertise.

According to its development orientation toward 2030, Thai Nguyen University strives to build an intellectual workforce that ensures sufficient quantity, high quality, and a well-balanced structure. Specifically, the proportion of doctoral degree holders is expected to reach approximately 50–52%, while professors and associate professors will account for around 9.5–10.5%, meeting the standards for higher education institutions under current regulations. All remaining lecturers will possess at least a master’s degree, satisfying the requirements for teaching and research in the context of international integration. In addition, all staff members, lecturers, and employees will receive training in digital skills and technological applications for teaching, management, and research activities. Foreign language proficiency will also be enhanced in accordance with job positions in order to promote international scientific publications, expand academic cooperation, and improve the quality of postgraduate education.

Thai Nguyen University is also implementing a range of comprehensive solutions, including attracting and fostering talented individuals, creating favorable conditions for lecturers to participate in training and professional development programs both domestically and internationally, and increasing investment in facilities, laboratories, and digital infrastructure to support teaching and research. Scientific research, innovation, and digital transformation activities are being actively promoted across member institutions, contributing to the development of a modern higher education ecosystem closely linked to the socio-economic development needs of localities and the region.

Looking toward 2045, Thai Nguyen University aspires to build an intellectual workforce capable of leading and mastering key technologies, making substantial contributions to the development of the economy, improving the quality of human resources, and promoting sustainable development for local communities and the wider region.
