On December 10, the Trade Union of Thai Nguyen University (TNU) solemnly convened the 7th Trade Union Congress for the 2025–2030 term. The Congress constituted a significant political event for trade union members, civil servants, and university employees, taking place in the context of nationwide efforts to effectively implement the resolutions of Party Congresses at all levels and the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The Congress was honored to welcome Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An, Member of the Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Education and Training, Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, and President of the Vietnam Education Trade Union; Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Member of the Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Education and Training, Deputy Head of the Trade Union Affairs Division; Ms. Vu Thi Thuy Ha, Deputy Head of the Labour Relations Division of the Vietnam Education Trade Union; together with representatives of trade unions from units within Emulation Cluster No. 1 under the Vietnam Education Trade Union, including National Universities and Regional Universities.

Attending on behalf of Thai Nguyen University were Dr. Nguyen Van Tao, Secretary of the Party Committee; Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Thai Nguyen University, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Vice Chair of the University Council and President of the Trade Union, Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien, Vice President of Thai Nguyen University; former Presidents of the TNU Trade Union across different periods; leaders of functional departments and mass organizations; representatives of member universities, colleges, affiliated and subordinate units; and 148 official delegates, representing more than 3,700 trade union members across the University.

In the opening address, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Vice Chair of the University Council and President of the Trade Union of Thai Nguyen University, emphasized that the 7th Trade Union Congress held particular significance. The Congress embodied a spirit of renewed thinking and enhanced effectiveness in trade union activities, particularly in the context of university autonomy, digital transformation, and deepening international integration. It also reaffirmed the mission of building a contingent of intellectuals, lecturers, and science and technology personnel with strong political integrity, professional ethics, and high-level expertise, reflecting the values of solidarity, democracy, discipline, innovation, and development, and contributing to the successful implementation of the resolutions of the Party Committee of Thai Nguyen University and the University’s development strategy in the new period.

The Congress conducted a comprehensive review and objective assessment of the implementation of the Resolution of the previous Trade Union Congress for the 2023–2025 term. During this period, the Trade Union of Thai Nguyen University effectively fulfilled its annual and term-based targets; actively safeguarded the lawful and legitimate rights and interests of civil servants and employees; promoted grassroots democracy; coordinated the proper organization of the Conference of Civil Servants and Employees; and widely implemented emulation movements and campaigns launched by the education sector and the Vietnam Education Trade Union. Commendation and reward activities were renewed in a timely, transparent, and practical manner, with numerous outstanding collectives and individuals being recognized and honored.

With the strategic orientation of developing Thai Nguyen University into a green university, a digital university, and a regional center of innovation for the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region, the Congress identified key objectives for the 2025–2030 term. These include continuing to innovate the content and methods of trade union activities; strengthening the trade union organization; improving the material and spiritual well-being of civil servants and employees; enhancing the quality and capacity of trade union officials; promoting digital transformation in trade union management and communication; and actively contributing to comprehensive and fundamental reforms in education and training.
Speaking at the Congress, Dr. Nguyen Van Tao, Secretary of the Party Committee of Thai Nguyen University, acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements attained by the Trade Union of Thai Nguyen University during the previous term. He emphasized that these accomplishments provided an important foundation for continued development in the coming period, and called upon the newly elected Executive Committee to strengthen its outstanding role, enhance dialogue with trade union members, foster a harmonious, stable, and progressive working environment, and renew emulation movements closely aligned with professional duties.

Delivering the directive address, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An, President of the Vietnam Education Trade Union, expressed his appreciation for the valuable contributions of the Trade Union of Thai Nguyen University to the overall development of the Vietnam Education Trade Union. He emphasized the need for continued innovation in organizational and operational approaches, enhanced welfare programs, and improved effectiveness of trade union activities, thereby better meeting the legitimate needs and aspirations of trade union members and employees.

The Congress unanimously adopted the Resolution of the 7th Trade Union Congress of Thai Nguyen University for the 2025–2030 term; elected the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of Thai Nguyen University for the 2025–2030 term, consisting of 15 members; and elected the delegation to attend the 17th Congress of the Vietnam Education Trade Union.
