Training Workshop on Enhancing Capacity for Academic Program Quality Assurance

On November 7, Thai Nguyen University (TNU), in collaboration with the Center for Education Accreditation – Vietnam National University (VNU), Hanoi, organized a training workshop on enhancing capacity for academic program quality assurance for administrators and lecturers. The workshop was conducted in accordance with Circular No. 04 dated February 17, 2025 of the Ministry of Education and Training, which stipulates regulations on the accreditation of academic programs in higher education.

The workshop was attended by Dr. Tran Huu Luong, Head of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Department, Center for Education Accreditation – VNU, Hanoi; representatives of TNU’s Department of Training and Student Affairs and Department of Organization and Personnel; leaders of member universities and colleges; heads of training, academic affairs, testing and quality assurance units; deans, deputy deans, heads and deputy heads of departments, lecturers, and staff who have completed the accreditation assessor training course. Participants from TNU’s Campuses in Lao Cai and Ha Giang joined the workshop online.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Danh Nam, Director of the Department of Training and Student Affairs, emphasized that TNU is oriented toward becoming a national key university and ranking among the top 500 universities in Asia. Therefore, TNU places great importance on ensuring the quality of its academic programs across all member institutions. The workshop was part of TNU’s implementation of its 2025–2026 Academic Year Plan on higher education quality assurance. He encouraged participants to actively engage with the expert, exchange experiences, and discuss standards and criteria in preparation for the upcoming external evaluation of academic programs in the 2025–2026 academic year.

During the workshop, participants were provided with key topics, including: an overview of the academic program quality assurance framework; new points in the standards and criteria for program evaluation; detailed analysis of evaluation criteria; procedures and cycles of program accreditation; approaches to assessing learning outcomes; and guidance on preparing evidence portfolios and self-assessment reports.

The training workshop brought about practical benefits, contributing to strengthening the capacity of TNU’s staff and lecturers in developing, managing, and evaluating academic programs that meet the requirements set out in Circular No. 04/2025/TT-BGDDT. The event also supports TNU’s ongoing efforts to realize its strategic goals for institutional development and quality enhancement.
