On the afternoon of November 4, Thai Nguyen University (TNU) had a working session with the delegation from Star Telecom (Unitel), a member company of Viettel Group, to discuss potential cooperation and recruitment opportunities for Lao students studying at the university.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien, Vice President of Thai Nguyen University; representatives of the Office of Thai Nguyen University, the Department of Science, Technology and International Affairs, and the Department of Training and Student Affairs; along with leaders and international cooperation officers from TNU’s member universities and affiliated units.
The delegation from Star Telecom (Unitel) included Mr. Trinh Duc Trinh, Deputy General Director of Business; Mr. Daovi Sihathep, Deputy General Director of Human Resources and Administration; Mr. Vanxay Chanthavong, Head of Human Resources Department; and representatives from Viettel Thai Nguyen.
In his remarks, Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien, Vice President of TNU, expressed his sincere appreciation to the Unitel delegation for their interest and support in creating job opportunities for students, especially Lao students studying at TNU. As a multidisciplinary and multi-field university, Thai Nguyen University has played an important role over the past 30 years in fulfilling national strategic missions and contributing to the socio-economic development of the Northern Midland and Mountainous region. In recent years, TNU has developed close and comprehensive cooperation with Viettel Group in various areas, including digital transformation, training, scientific research, and student internship support. The two sides have also cooperated in expert exchange programs in semiconductor technology, information technology, and communications. Dr. Lien affirmed that Thai Nguyen University is ready to accompany Viettel and Unitel in developing high-quality human resources, particularly to meet the labor demands in Laos, thereby strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two sides.

Representatives of Star Telecom (Unitel) gave an overview of the company. Unitel is a joint venture between Viettel Group (Vietnam) and Lao Asia Telecom (Laos), and is currently the leading telecommunications operator in Laos. After more than 16 years of operation, Unitel is entering an expansion phase and expects to recruit about 300 employees annually in fields such as Information Technology, Electrical – Electronic – Telecommunications Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Finance – Accounting, and Vietnamese and Lao Languages.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in recruitment, training, and student enrollment support.

On this occasion, the delegation from Star Telecom (Unitel) also held a recruitment introduction session, presented gifts to Lao students with outstanding academic achievements, and received job applications from candidates studying at TNU’s member universities.
