Thai Nguyen University Holds Working Session with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam

 

On the morning of April 14, Dr. Nguyen Van Tao, Secretary of Party of Thai Nguyen University (TNU), chaired a working session with the delegation from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam, led by Mr. Luu The Trung, Head of the Office.

The meeting was attended by representatives of TNU’s functional departments, the Center of Training and International Development, Institute for Excellence in Education and Research as well as leaders of member universities, colleges, and affiliated units of TNU.

In his remarks, Dr. Nguyen Van Tao provided an overview of TNU as a regional, multidisciplinary and multi-field university with a scale of over 115,000 students and nearly 3,800 staff members. Currently, TNU offers nearly 350 undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The University consistently prioritizes improving training quality, promoting research, and expanding international cooperation to meet the demands for high-quality human resources in the context of global integration.

In recent years, TNU has established cooperative relationships with more than 20 universities and educational organizations in Taiwan (China). The two sides have jointly organized numerous scientific conferences, professional training programs, education exhibitions, and job fairs, with the participation of 16 Taiwanese universities and colleges, attracting significant interest from lecturers, students, and local high school pupils.

In terms of training, both sides have implemented various joint undergraduate and master’s programs. Many TNU staff members, lecturers, and students have received postgraduate scholarships from Taiwanese universities, contributing to the enhancement of professional capacity and international integration at TNU. In the context of digital transformation and high-tech development, TNU is actively participating in international cooperation programs such as INTENSE, with more than 100 students involved in semiconductor microchip and STEM education fields.

Looking forward, TNU expressed its desire for the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam to continue facilitating connections with Taiwanese universities, promote exchanges of experts, lecturers, and students, and support the development of academic exchange programs, scientific conferences, joint training programs, and collaborative research projects. The University also aims to strengthen cooperation in Taiwan’s areas of strength, including semiconductor technology, healthcare, agriculture, management, innovation, and digital transformation.

At the meeting, representatives of the delegation from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam highly appreciated TNU’s proposals for cooperation in education and research. They acknowledged the proposals and affirmed that appropriate measures would be taken to further promote and develop cooperation in the coming time.

Within the framework of the program, the delegation also interacted with TNU students, sharing valuable information on living, studying, and scholarship opportunities in Taiwan (China).
