Thai Nguyen University Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Kunming University of Science and Technology, China

On the morning of 3 July, Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien, Vice President of Thai Nguyen University (TNU), hosted and chaired a meeting with a delegation from Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST), China, led by Prof. Pan Xuejun, Vice President of KUST. The meeting was attended by representatives of TNU's Department of Science, Technology and International Affairs and the School of Foreign Languages.

 

Overview of the meeting.

In her welcoming remarks, Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien provided an overview of Thai Nguyen University, highlighting the University's internationalization strategy and its commitment to expanding partnerships with higher education institutions worldwide. She affirmed that Kunming University of Science and Technology is one of TNU's strategic partners in Southwest China and expressed her confidence that the two institutions would continue to foster substantive and mutually beneficial cooperation in the years to come.

For his part, Prof. Pan Xuejun expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by Thai Nguyen University. He introduced KUST's academic profile, research strengths, key disciplines, and international development strategy for the 2026–2030 period. He noted that the two universities share many complementary strengths and considerable potential for collaboration, expressing his hope that the meeting would further deepen and strengthen the long-term partnership between the two universities.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on a number of priority areas for cooperation, including student and faculty exchange programmes; international summer camps; the development of joint academic programmes under the 2+2 and 3+1 articulation models; scholarship opportunities; Chinese language education; the co-organization of international conferences in the fields of languages, artificial intelligence (AI), education, and STEM; the development of academic programmes and digital learning resources; and collaboration with Chinese enterprises to create internship, employment, and scholarship opportunities for Vietnamese students.

On this occasion, representatives of the leadership of Thai Nguyen University and Kunming University of Science and Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking an important milestone in the cooperative relationship between the two institutions. Under the MoU, the two universities will promote collaboration in a wide range of areas, including student and faculty exchanges, credit transfer and recognition, curriculum development, scientific research, the development of teaching and learning materials, the organization of international scientific conferences, science and technology transfer, and other educational cooperation initiatives.

The signing of the MoU is expected to provide a solid framework for expanding mutual cooperation, contributing to the enhancement of educational quality, research capacity, and international engagement of both institutions while further strengthening academic ties between Viet Nam and China.
