Promoting International Cooperation at Thai Nguyen University

On the morning of December 3rd, Thai Nguyen University convened the Conference on Promoting International Cooperation, with the attendance of Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training. Leaders from Thai Nguyen University and representatives from its member universities, colleges, and affiliated units attended the conference.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Hoàng Văn Hùng, President of Thai Nguyen University, emphasized the strategic importance of international cooperation in the face of the profound impacts of globalization and digital transformation. He affirmed that international collaboration constitutes a pivotal driver for expanding knowledge, disseminating values, and elevating the University’s stature within the national higher education landscape.

In the 2024–2025 academic year, Thai Nguyen University recorded substantial achievements in international cooperation, including welcoming more than 1,300 international visitors; sending over 400 staff members and students abroad for academic exchange; implementing 25 advanced and English-taught programs, together with 20 international joint-training programs; and organizing eight international conferences and three thematic workshops attended by more than 1,600 participants. Thai Nguyen University also carried out several externally funded projects worth nearly USD 3 million; published over 2,100 international articles, including 393 WoS-indexed publications; and attracted nearly 1,000 international students from 26 countries and territories.

Addressing the conference, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung commended the efforts and accomplishments of the University, and urged Thai Nguyen University to continue investing in modern infrastructure, strengthening international exchange activities, and enhancing training and professional development programs for its faculty, staff, and students. He affirmed that the Department of International Cooperation will remain a committed partner in guiding procedures related to international cooperation, as well as in supporting the reception of foreign lecturers, volunteers, and international students.

During the conference, representatives of member institutions shared insights and proposed solutions to expand strategic partnerships, promote academic mobility, enhance the quality of joint-training programs, and strengthen the attraction of international experts and students in the context of deepening global integration and rapid digital transformation.

On this occasion, Thai Nguyen University presented Certificates of Merit to three collectives with outstanding achievements in international cooperation in the 2024–2025 academic year: the University of Education, the University of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Center for International Training Cooperation of the University of Technology.

The conference set forth several strategic orientations for the 2026–2030 period, focusing on strengthening international integration, enhancing the quality of training and research, and developing a modern, innovative ecosystem of education, science, and technology. These orientations will help position Thai Nguyen University toward the top 500 universities in Asia and contribute meaningfully to sustainable development in the Northern Midlands and Mountainous region and across the country.
