President of Thai Nguyen University Works with the School of International Studies

On the morning of December 4, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung, PhD, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tahi Nguyen University and President of Thai Nguyen University, presided over a working session with the International School to review its operational status and discuss development orientations for the forthcoming period. Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien, Vice President; representatives of the Office and functional departments; the Executive Board; and leaders of the International School attended the working session.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Thi Bich Thao, Dean of the International School, delivered a comprehensive report on activities. Established in 2011, the School of International Studies is a public academic institution under Thai Nguyen University, pioneering the implementation of high-quality training programs conducted in foreign languages (English, Chinese, and Korean), the aim of meeting international standards. By the 2024–2025 academic year, 3 out of its 7 academic programs had successfully obtained AUN-QA accreditation, accounting for nearly 43%. The School currently comprises 3 functional divisions and 4 academic departments, with a total of 64 staff members and lecturers, and hosts nearly 100 international students from 15 different countries.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Thi Bich Thao presented an overview of student enrollment, facilities, admissions, academic affairs, and scientific research, while also identifying challenges in communication for student recruitment, equipment, and financial resources. To effectively fulfill its tasks in the coming period, the School proposed several key solutions: strengthening communication to enhance visibility and institutional branding; training staff and students in communication and media skills; integrating traditional and digital approaches in student recruitment; reviewing and updating academic programs, including the addition of courses on digital competencies, AI applications, and marketing communication; and developing a comprehensive LMS platform with digital learning resources.

Additionally, the International School emphasized the need to reinforce cooperation with domestic and international organizations and enterprises in training, internships, and employment for students; establish research groups in relevant fields; enhance professionalism, work methods, and expertise among staff and lecturers; develop short-term training programs and service activities; upgrade facilities for teaching, administration, and international cooperation; and apply KPI-based performance assessments for staff.

In his concluding remarks, President Hoang Van Hung commended the achievements of the School of International Studies in the 2024–2025 academic year and highly appreciated the unit’s proposals. He requested strengthened coordination with functional departments in improving human resource management; research and development of an effective operational model; expansion of interdisciplinary academic programs and international joint programs; increase in student recruitment in the new condition; development of open educational resources and instructional materials; expansion of short-term training programs; increased investment in facilities; promotion of international cooperation and international student recruitment; finalization of scientific research proposals; and further encouragement of student research activities.
