On January 27th, Thai Nguyen University (TNU) held a working session with a delegation from JALA Corporation, Japan. The delegation included Mr. Dai Egashira, President and Chief Executive Officer of JALA Corporation, Mr. Hoshino Katsuya, Executive Director of JALA Corporation and along with representatives of WSY Vietnam Co., Ltd.

On the side of Thai Nguyen University were representatives of the leadership of the Department of Science, Technology, and International Affairs, the Department of Academic and Student Affairs; the Center for Distance Education, the Center for Training and International Development, and the Institute of Excellence in Education and Research.
At the meeting, a representative of the leadership of the Department of Science, Technology, and International Affairs provided an overview of the mission, functions, potential, and development orientation of Thai Nguyen University. As a regional university operating under a two-tier, multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral model, Thai Nguyen University serves as a major center for education, scientific research, and technology transfer in the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region of Viet Nam.
Currently, Thai Nguyen University comprises seven member universities, one college, the School of Foreign Languages, the International School, and three campuses located in Lao Cai, Ha Giang (Tuyen Quang), and Dien Bien provinces. By 2025, the University’s total enrollment has exceeded 115,000 learners.
Over the years, Thai Nguyen University has established cooperative relationships with numerous international partners, particularly with institutions and organizations from Japan. Many lecturers and students of Thai Nguyen University have studied, conducted research, and worked in Japan. At present, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy – Thai Nguyen University is offering academic programs aligned with the human resource needs of JALA Corporation, such as nursing and healthcare.
Thai Nguyen University also emphasized the growing demand among Vietnamese workers for higher education opportunities in Japan, as well as the increasing interest of students in learning the Japanese language. Accordingly, the University proposed several potential areas of cooperation, including Japanese language training, distance education, expanding partnerships with Japanese higher education institutions, and attracting Japanese students to study at Thai Nguyen University.

Representatives of JALA Corporation introduced an overview of the Corporation’s operations. Currently, JALA operates 399 nursing care facilities, one kindergarten, two Japanese language schools, and one company, employing more than 7,400 staff. The Corporation is active in various fields, including real estate, training and support for foreign workers in Japan, Japanese language training for international students, elderly healthcare services, and childcare and education. JALA Corporation expressed its strong interest in strengthening cooperation with Thai Nguyen University, particularly in Japanese language training and employment support for students after graduation.

During the working session, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on future cooperation orientations, with a particular focus on Japanese language training, distance education, internship programs, and the development of high-quality human resources.

Through the meeting, Thai Nguyen University and JALA Corporation agreed to continue close coordination and further exchanges to gradually implement appropriate cooperation programs, thereby contributing to the promotion of educational and training cooperation between Viet Nam and Japan.
