The Ceremony Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Traditional Day of the University of Technology

In the morning of December 6, the TNU- University of Technology solemnly held the Ceremony marking the 60th Anniversary of its Traditional Day (December 6, 1965 – December 6, 2025) and celebrated the conferment of the Second-Class Labor Order—one of the noble distinctions awarded by the Communist Party and the Governemnt in recognition of the University’s significant contributions to education and training, research, and community service over the past six decades.

The Ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. Do Van Chien, Politburo Member and Permanent Vice President of the National Assembly, and Mr. Pham Gia Khiem, former Politburo Member and former Deputy Prime Minister. Also in attendance were Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong, Permanent Vice Minister of Education and Training; Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong, Secretary of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee; representatives of Committees of the National Assembly; and the Central Emulation and Commendation Board, together with leaders from central and local agencies.

Dr. Nguyen Van Tao, Secretary of the Party Committee, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President representing Thai Nguyen University, attended the ceremony. Leaders of member universities, along with a large gathering of staff, lecturers, alumni, and students across generations, were at the ceremony.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof.  Ngo Nhu Khoa, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chair of the University Council, revisited the proud history of the University over the past 60 years. From its early days in 1965 as a branch campus of Hanoi University of Science and Technology in Thai Nguyen, formed under the hard conditions, the University has continuously grown to become one of the nation’s leading institutions of training in the fields of engineering and technology. The documentary film “60 Years of a Glorious Journey” vividly portrayed the University’s development and its notable achievements in training high-quality human resources, conducting research, and implementing technology transfer.

On behalf of the President of Vietnam, Mr. Do Van Chien presented the Second-Class Labor Order to the University of Technology, acknowledging its outstanding achievements and contributions over the years.

Addressing the Ceremony, Permanent Vice Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong commended the University’s accomplishments and emphasized five key tasks for its breakthrough development in the new period: effectively implementing the Party’s resolutions on educational reform; enhancing faculty quality; modernizing curricula in an open and flexible direction; accelerating digital transformation and promoting the application of artificial intelligence in management and training; and strengthening moral education while fostering creativity and entrepreneurial spirit among learners.

On behalf of the provincial leadership, Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong, Secretary of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee, offered flowers to congratulate the University on this meaningful occasion.

Representing the alumni community, Mr. Tran Minh Son, Permanent Vice President of Sun Group, expressed great pride in the University’s 60-year tradition and affirmed the continued commitment of Sun Group to accompany the University in training and recruiting high-quality human resources. At the Ceremony, he and representatives of Cohorts K22M and K23M presented a package of equipment for the “Digital Mechanical Engineering and Integrated Automation Laboratory,” valued at 1 billion VND, marking the commencement of a six-year support program.

In his closing remarks, Assoc. Prof. Do Trung Hai, Rector of the University, expressed profound gratitude to all distinguished leaders and delegates, and reaffirmed the University’s determination to uphold unity, foster innovation, and advance the University of Technology toward a modern institution aligned with international standards and global integration.
