Announcement of the Prime Minister’s Decision on the Merger of Thai Nguyen Medical College into the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Thai Nguyen University

On November 25, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Thai Nguyen University, solemnly held a Ceremony to announce the Prime Minister’s Decision on the merger of Thai Nguyen Medical College into the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Thai Nguyen University.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training; representatives of central ministries and agencies; leaders of the People’s Committee of Thai Nguyen Province; leaders of Thai Nguyen University and its affiliated members, and representatives of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Thai Nguyen Medical College attended the meeting.

At the ceremony, Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong presented Decision No. 2345/QĐ-TTg dated October 23, 2025, issued by the Prime Minister, on the merger of Thai Nguyen Medical College into the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Thai Nguyen University.

In his remarks, the Deputy Minister commended the efforts of the two training units in developing the Merger Plan, affirming that the Decision marks an important milestone that opens a new stage of development, optimizes resources, and enhances the quality of training. He requested that the merger process ensure the rights and interests of all stakeholders, maintain unity, and promote innovation and creativity.

He expressed his expectation that, following the merger, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Thai Nguyen University, will continue to strengthen its position and become a leading institution in education, research, and innovation in health sciences.

Mr. Nong Quang Nhat emphasized that the merger will contribute to improving the quality of training for healthcare personnel in the province, and encouraged the newly consolidated institution to maximize its combined strengths while ensuring the rights of staff, lecturers, and students.

The representative of Thai Nguyen University affirmed the University’s commitment to accompanying and providing favorable conditions for the development of the institution in the post-merger phase.

Delivering his acceptance speech, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung emphasized that the merger is not only an administrative arrangement but also a convergence of traditions, values, and the strengths of both training units. He affirmed the determination to build the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Thai Nguyen University, into a leading institution in health sciences education.

Dr. Khuc Thi Tuyet Huong, lecturer of Thai Nguyen Medical College, expressed her optimism about the new, broader, and more modern academic environment, which she believes will open up opportunities for capacity development and improvement in training quality.

The ceremony marks an important step forward, opening a new phase of development with a strong determination to build a united, progressive, and sustainably developing institution, ready for deeper integration in the field of health sciences.
