Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Republic of Korea, Officially Visits Thai Nguyen University

On 2 December, as part of the official working program in Thai Nguyen Province, a delegation from Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Republic of Korea, led by Sir Lee Cheol Woo, Governor of the Province, officially visited and held a working session with Thai Nguyen University. Accompanying the delegation was Mr. Park Keun, President of Kyungwoon University. Representing Thai Nguyen Province at the meeting was Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee.

Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Thai Nguyen University, welcomed and worked with the delegation. Representatives of the University Office and functional departments, the Board of Rectors, staff, lecturers, and students of the School of Foreign Languages attended the meeting.

In his address, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Hung expressed his profound honor in receiving the delegation from Gyeongsangbuk-do, one of the leading provinces in the Republic of Korea in industry, high technology, education, and culture, and a locality that has maintained a traditional friendship with Thai Nguyen Province since 2005.

He provided an overview of Thai Nguyen University, a regional multi-disciplinary institution with an enrollment of more than 115,000 students and nearly 3,500 staff members, lecturers, and scientists, including numerous senior experts in various fields. He emphasized that internationalization has consistently remained one of the University’s three strategic pillars—training, scientific research, and international integration.

Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung affirmed that Thai Nguyen University places a high priority on cooperation with Korean partners. A range of initiatives have been effectively implemented, including Korean language training, student and faculty exchanges, collaborative research, business networking, and knowledge transfer.

He extended sincere gratitude to Gyeongsangbuk-do Province for selecting Thai Nguyen University as the location for the establishment of the K-Chang Space—an important educational and cultural project symbolizing friendship, mutual trust, and long-term strategic vision between the two localities. The K-Chang Space is expected to become a dynamic hub for learning, cultural exchange, innovation, and university–industry connectivity, thereby supporting students in accessing Korean enterprises and expanding opportunities for internships, employment, and hands-on experience.

Looking ahead, Thai Nguyen University aspires to further strengthen collaboration with Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Korean universities, and enterprises in several key areas: Student, lecturer, and expert exchanges through bilateral training programs; Expansion of Korean language education, particularly to meet the demand of Korean companies operating in Thai Nguyen and the northern midland and mountainous region, Joint scientific research and innovation in fields such as high technology, smart agriculture, environment, digital transformation, and cultural industries,
University–industry linkage, building ecosystems for internships, practical training, and high-quality recruitment, and Scholarship programs and youth and cultural exchanges between students from both sides.

He expressed firm confidence that cooperation in education, training, culture, and science and technology between the two sides will continue to advance strongly, substantively, and sustainably in the years to come.

In his remarks, Governor Lee Cheol Woo expressed sincere appreciation for the warm and respectful welcome extended by Thai Nguyen University. He reaffirmed the 20-year cooperation between Gyeongsangbuk-do and Thai Nguyen Province and provided an overview of his province’s socio-economic development, education, culture, music, and film industries. The Governor expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation between Thai Nguyen University and Kyungwoon University and voiced his hope that the program would open up new avenues for study, practical training, and employment for Vietnamese students in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.

During the program, many students from the School of Foreign Languages had the opportunity to exchange and learn more about study opportunities in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

As part of the program, the delegation visited the K-Chang Space at the Digital Center and provided information about educational institutions and study opportunities in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.

The program served to reinforce and promote cooperation between Thai Nguyen University and educational institutions of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, enhance student exchanges, introduce study opportunities in the Republic of Korea, and further deepen the Vietnam–Korea friendship in the fields of education and training.
