Thai Nguyen University Holds Working Session with Kyushu University Delegation (Japan)

On the morning of January 12, Thai Nguyen University (TNU) hosted and held a working session with a delegation from Kyushu University, Japan. The delegation included Professor Koki Fujita and Professor Masumi Hasegawa from the Faculty of Agriculture, Kyushu University.

Attending the meeting on behalf of Thai Nguyen University were representatives and leaders of the Department of Science, Technology, and International Affairs; the Institute of Excellence in Education and Research; the International School; and the Center of Training and International Development.

The working session aimed to exchange views and discuss potential areas of cooperation between the two institutions. Key areas of discussion included scientific research collaboration, academic and student exchange, and progressing toward the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Faculty of Agriculture, Kyushu University, and the Institute of Excellence in Education and Research as well as the International School of Thai Nguyen University, along with other cooperative activities in education and human resource development.

At the meeting, a representative of the leadership of the Department of Science, Technology, and International Affairs provided an overview of the development and operations of Thai Nguyen University, emphasizing the effective and sustainable cooperative relationships that the University has established with Japanese higher education institutions in recent years. Through cooperation with Kyushu University, Thai Nguyen University expects to gain access to advanced research achievements, thereby contributing to the enhancement of education quality and scientific research capacity.

On behalf of the Faculty of Agriculture, Kyushu University, the delegation expressed sincere appreciation for the warm and courteous reception by Thai Nguyen University. The delegation also introduced Kyushu University as a national, comprehensive university of Japan, offering education and research in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, animal husbandry, and life sciences. Kyushu University currently enrolls approximately 19,000 students, including around 2,500 international students, and employs about 2,000 academic staff. In the field of agriculture alone, the University has approximately 1,000 students, supported by a system of specialized research laboratories that provide favorable conditions for academic research and the development of innovative ideas.

In recent years, the Faculty of Agriculture, Kyushu University, signed an academic cooperation agreement with the University of Agriculture and Forestry -Thai Nguyen University in 2023, focusing on research in agricultural sciences, particularly in the field of wood science. In the coming period, the Faculty of Agriculture expressed its desire to further expand cooperation and exchanges in education and training. The delegation emphasized that individual academic collaborations would serve as an important foundation for advancing higher-level institutional cooperation between the two universities.

Concluding the meeting, the leaders of the Department of Science, Technology, and International Affairs expressed sincere appreciation for the constructive cooperation proposals from Kyushu University and affirmed that both sides would continue close consultations and detailed discussions to soon implement appropriate and effective cooperative activities in the coming period.
