Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Thai Nguyen University- Campus in Lao Cai Province – “Flowers Blooming on the Borderlands”

On the morning of December 24, Thai Nguyen University solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Thai Nguyen University- Campus in Lao Cai Province (December 24, 2015 – December 24, 2025).

The guests of hornour were Ms. Vu Thi Hien Hanh, Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Ly Binh Minh, Vice Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial People’s Council, representatives of provincial departments, agencies, and local authorities of Lao Cai Province, representatives of several central ministries and agencies, the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Viet Nam; and representatives of localities and educational institutions in the region.

Representing Thai Nguyen University were Dr. Nguyen Van Tao, Secretary of the Party Committee; Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Thai Nguyen University; Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien, Vice President of Thai Nguyen University and Director of the Thai Nguyen University Campus in Lao Cai Province, together with former leaders of the University from different terms, representatives of member units, and staff, lecturers, and students of the campus.

In his address, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung affirmed that over the past ten years of establishment and development, the Thai Nguyen University- Campus in Lao Cai Province has successfully fulfilled its assigned mission based on three pillars: undergraduate human resource training, research and knowledge transfer, and community consultancy and service. The Campus has trained nearly 3,500 bachelor graduates and cooperated in training nearly 500 master’s degree holders; implemented more than 100 science and technology research projects, many of which have been effectively applied in practice; and gradually disseminated the values of higher education, making positive contributions to improving the Human Development Index and innovation capacity of Lao Cai Province.

In her congratulatory remarks, Ms. Vu Thi Hien Hanh highly appreciated and acknowledged the practical and responsible contributions of the Campus to education and training, human resource development, scientific research, and knowledge transfer closely linked with local realities. She emphasized that Thai Nguyen University’s decision to establish a campus in Lao Cai holds special significance for a mountainous border province, and expressed her hope that Thai Nguyen University and its Campus would continue to accompany Lao Cai Province in the new development phase.

At the ceremony, the Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee presented a commemorative banner from the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee to the Thai Nguyen University Campus in Lao Cai Province, and awarded Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the process of building and developing the Campus.

In his response, Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien expressed sincere gratitude for the attention and support from central ministries and agencies, Lao Cai Province, and Thai Nguyen University, and reaffirmed the determination to continue innovating, improving the quality of education and training, scientific research, and knowledge transfer, and to build the Branch into a center for training, research, and innovation serving the sustainable development of the Northwestern region.

The anniversary ceremony concluded with a special artistic performance and a solemn commemorative ritual, affirming the meaningful ten-year journey of formation and development of the Thai Nguyen University- Campus in Lao Cai Province, where the “flowers of knowledge” have bloomed and continue to flourish on the borderlands, opening up new prospects for development in the years ahead.
