Thai Nguyen University Launches the 2026 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign

On the evening of 15 July, at Bac Kan Ward Cultural Square, Thai Nguyen University (TNU) officially launched the 2026 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign and TNU Youth Fest 2026 under the theme "Igniting Youth – Connecting Communities – Gratitude and Dedication."

Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, together with provincial leaders, former leaders of Bac Kan Province, representatives of the Vietnam Education Trade Union, and leaders of provincial departments, agencies, and local authorities attended the launching ceremony.

Representing Thai Nguyen University were Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung, Secretary of the TNU Party Committee and President of Thai Nguyen University, Dr. Nguyen Van Tao, Deputy Secretary of the TNU Party Committee and Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Vice President and Chairman of the TNU Trade Union, and Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien, Vice President, together with leaders of the University Office, the Party and Mass Organizations Office, functional departments, member universities and colleges, affiliated units, as well as a large number of lecturers, staff members, and students.

Delivering the opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang, Acting Deputy Secretary of the TNU Youth Union, officially launched the 2026 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign.

Speaking at the ceremony, the TNU Youth Union emphasized that, over the years, the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign has become a hallmark of TNU's youth movement, providing students with valuable opportunities to gain practical experience, develop essential skills, and strengthen their sense of social responsibility.

Throughout previous campaigns, TNU student volunteers have carried out numerous meaningful activities across the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region, including implementing youth projects, supporting digital transformation, transferring scientific and technological knowledge, providing healthcare services, protecting the environment, contributing to new-style rural development and civilized urban areas, organizing educational and childcare activities, expressing gratitude to national contributors, and promoting social welfare. These activities have not only supported local communities but have also helped students better understand social responsibility and the value of service and dedication.

During this year's campaign, volunteer teams will focus on practical activities such as supporting community digital transformation and the Digital Literacy Movement, applying science and technology to serve local communities, providing healthcare consultation and services, promoting OCOP (One Commune One Product) products, protecting the environment, organizing STEAM, information technology, foreign language, and digital skills classes for children, promoting reading culture, conducting gratitude activities, social welfare programs, and supporting disadvantaged families.

At the campaign's key locations in the northern part of the province, TNU plans to deploy 30 volunteer teams with approximately 700 staff members, Youth Union members, and students to conduct activities in nine communes and wards. The teams aim to complete nearly 20 youth projects, present at least 500 social welfare gifts, plant approximately 1,200 trees, and organize activities benefiting nearly 1,000 children.

These targets demonstrate TNU youth's strong commitment and aspiration to contribute to local development. More importantly, every project and activity will be implemented responsibly, based on actual community needs, while ensuring safety and effectiveness.

In his keynote address assigning tasks to the volunteer teams, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung, Secretary of the TNU Party Committee and President of Thai Nguyen University, emphasized four key priorities: Maximizing the pioneering spirit, creativity, and enthusiasm of young people; Implementing activities according to plan and in response to the practical needs of local communities to ensure effectiveness and sustainable impact; strengthening coordination between Youth Union and Student Association organizations at all levels and local Party committees and authorities; and encouraging every volunteer to serve as an ambassador of Thai Nguyen University by maintaining the image, culture, and professional conduct of university students, strictly observing discipline, ensuring safety throughout the campaign, respecting local customs and cultural identities, and utilizing their strengths in knowledge, science, technology, and digital transformation to support local people and grassroots authorities.

Following the speech, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung presented the campaign flags to representatives of the volunteer teams.

During the ceremony, Thai Nguyen University and its member institutions donated a total of VND 300 million, including VND 250 million to support the construction of five "Great Solidarity Houses" in Bac Kan Ward, Ba Be Commune, and Duc Xuan Ward.

Additionally, the TNU- University of Medicine and Pharmacy donated a VND 50 million healthcare package for elderly people and policy beneficiary families in Duc Xuan Ward. The program also recognized teachers who had overcome difficulties to successfully fulfill their duties, presented symbolic youth projects to representatives of nine communes and wards, and honored outstanding students who won prizes in the First Round of the 2026 Thai Nguyen University Informatics Olympiad.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, TNU Youth Fest 2026 took place, featuring performances by well-known singers and rappers alongside outstanding artistic performances by TNU students. The festival created a vibrant and modern musical atmosphere that celebrated creativity, volunteerism, and the spirit of youth.

The launching ceremony attracted a large number of students, Youth Union members, and young people from Thai Nguyen University. The event left lasting impressions on TNU's staff, lecturers, students, and local residents in the northern part of Thai Nguyen Province.

The series of activities organized by Thai Nguyen University in Bac Kan Ward concluded successfully, highlighting their significant political, social, and humanitarian value. These activities also contributed to implementing the comprehensive cooperation agreement between Thai Nguyen University and Thai Nguyen Province while reaffirming the University's role and responsibility as a regional university serving the socio-economic development of the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region.
