Thai Nguyen Province Promotes Comprehensive Cooperation with Thai Nguyen University

On March 12, the People’s Committee of Thai Nguyen Province held a working session with Thai Nguyen University (TNU) to discuss major orientations for the province’s socio-economic development in alignment with TNU’s development strategy in the coming period, and to consider and address several proposals and recommendations from the University.

Participants included Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Nong Quang Nhat, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; along with leaders of provincial departments, sectors, and localities. Dr. Nguyen Van Tao, Secretary of the TNU Party Committee, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of TNU, Dr. Nguyen Hong Lien, Vice President of TNU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Chairwoman of the TNU Trade Union; and representatives from affiliated units attended the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Vuong Quoc Tuan emphasized that Thai Nguyen University represents an important competitive advantage for the province in developing high-quality human resources, science and technology, and innovation. The province will continue to facilitate favorable conditions in terms of planning, development space, and infrastructure to support TNU’s expansion and strengthen its role as a regional center for education, scientific research, and technology transfer in the Northern Midlands and Mountainous region. Regarding recommendations related to compensation and site clearance for infrastructure development in the TNU area, the Chairman requested the University to review and prioritize land areas for infrastructure investment in the 2026–2030 medium-term public investment plan in order to accelerate project implementation.

At the session, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung presented an overview of TNU’s Development Strategy for the period 2026–2030 with a vision to 2045. He affirmed that TNU will concentrate resources on implementing large-scale science and technology initiatives addressing practical issues of the locality, such as environmental protection, high-tech agriculture, and the preservation and promotion of cultural values associated with sustainable tourism development. TNU also requested the province’s continued support in resolving challenges related to land clearance in the central area of the University and in considering mechanisms and policies that would facilitate the University’s long-term development.

During the meeting, delegates expressed a number of ideas to strengthen cooperation between Thai Nguyen Province and TNU for the 2026–2030 period. Both sides agreed to further enhance collaboration in human resource development, research, technology transfer, innovation, and policy consultation, while closely linking the University’s activities with the socio-economic development needs of the province. This cooperation is expected to better leverage the expertise of intellectuals and scientists, improve the quality of human resources, promote applied research, and support innovation to serve the rapid and sustainable development of Thai Nguyen Province.

Within the framework of the working program, Chairman Vuong Quoc Tuan and the delegation conducted field inspections at several locations where land clearance issues have affected the implementation of TNU’s projects, in order to assess the situation and provide timely directions for resolving existing obstacles in the near future.
