President of Thai Nguyen University Attends the Prime Minister’s Audience with Outstanding Educators in Celebration of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (20 November)

In the afternoon of 15 November, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính presided over an audience with 60 outstanding teachers representing more than 1.6 million educators across the country on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (20 November). Deputy Prime Minister Lê Thành Long, former Vice President and President of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education Nguyễn Thị Doan, Minister of Education and Training Nguyễn Kim Sơn, together with leaders of various ministries and central agencies, attended the meeting.

The presence of outstanding educators has become a significant annual event, affirming the Government’s gratitude and commitment to the teaching profession—the core force shaping the future of national education. This year’s gathering took place in the context of the Politburo’s adoption of Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training, and the National Assembly’s passage of the Law on Teachers, which together provide a strengthened legal foundation and enhanced professional standing for educators.

In his Opening Remarks, the Minister of Education and Training, Nguyễn Kim Sơn, highly appreciated the contributions of teachers nationwide, noting their exemplary ethics, creativity, and dedication to their profession. He expressed profound pride in and confidence in the continued endeavors of the teaching workforce.

Addressing the audience, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính expressed his heartfelt gratitude to educators nationwide and reaffirmed the nation’s enduring tradition of reverence for teachers. He reiterated that the Communist Party and the Government regard education and training as a foremost national policy and a cornerstone for the country’s sustainable development.

The Prime Minister highlighted the issuance of numerous landmark policies by the Politburo, the National Assembly, and the Government to advance education and foster a high-quality human-resource base. He praised the achievements, tireless efforts, and quiet dedication of teachers across the country.

He called upon ministries, sectors, and local authorities to continue improving institutional frameworks; enhancing training quality; ensuring appropriate remuneration and benefits for teachers; resolutely addressing negative practices; maintaining a safe and healthy educational environment; and prioritizing the planning of school networks and investment in infrastructure, particularly in disadvantaged regions.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his heartfelt gratitude to educators nationwide and reaffirmed the nation’s enduring tradition of reverence for teachers. He reiterated that the Party and the State regard education and training as a foremost national policy and a cornerstone for the country’s sustainable development.

Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung, PhD, Distinguished Teacher and President of Thai Nguyen University, was among the 60 distinguished educators honored to participate, serving as the representative of the regional universities. In his remarks, he underscored the pivotal role of regional universities in the new period of national development and expressed deep appreciation for the Party and State’s consistent attention to education, embodied in recently promulgated strategic resolutions and policies.

In his presentation, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hung, PhD emphasized the strong and timely support the Communist Party and the Government have devoted to education and training in recent years. He proposed three groups of special mechanisms designed to strengthen regional universities and higher education institutions at large:

  • Well-paid salaries and allowances to attract and retain qualified educators;
  • Mechanisms that enable internal restructuring within higher education institutions, particularly regional universities;
  • Strategic investment in core technologies, priority scientific fields, and specialized disciplines.

He further recommended assigning regional universities, national universities, and other higher education institutions to undertake national strategic tasks and regional development programs, especially in mountainous and disadvantaged areas.

To conclude the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directed relevant agencies to review, synthesize, and address the proposals raised by educators. He also extended his warmest wishes to the education sector on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (20 November).
